Equipping - Reaping

Step 9: Crossing the bridge and salvation.

Here we are physically present in His harvest and the Holy Spirit has enabled us to work with and pray for an individual, and the Holy Spirit shows us they are ready to commit their lives to Jesus. What next?

  • Personally lead them in prayer to accept Jesus into their life. For some this is easy, and they can do it without hesitation. For others it may feel daunting and may want a different approach.
  • Bring them to an evangelical meeting where they can hear testimonies and accept Jesus in the company of others.
  • Take them to a Holy Spirit filled church which has an altar call and let the pastor know beforehand.
  • Take them to a Full Gospel Business meeting where they can hear testimonies and accept Jesus in the company of others. These normally happen monthly.
  • Set up a meeting with a church pastor, or elder to lead them to a decision.

Jesus set up  Body of Christ to ensure there is  lots of help available .. all we need do is ask.

Step 10: Plug them into a Holy Spirit filled church.

At the risk of offending some churches, not every church is filled with the Holy Spirit.

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matthew 3:11)

Holy Spirit and fire! Is the church you attend full of the Holy Spirit and fire?

“And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,

‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.  Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’ ”” (Revelation 3: 14-22)

Jesus makes it very clear that a church should be on fire for Him, and that we must be baptised in the Holy Spirit. Jesus was baptised first in water and as he came out of the water the heavens opened to Him and he was filled with the Holy Spirit.

This is what we must ensure happens, so it is vital that we plug the new believer into a church that promotes and follows this.

Step 11: Discipling - multiplying the workers in the Lords Harvest.

How many Christians are discipled to build the Kingdom, and are then commissioned for their mission? How many are taught to ask the Holy Spirit what their mission is?

“As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice. ’For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Matthew 9: 9-13)

Jesus gave us many examples of ways to evangelise. The main point is that He went to where the sinners were. Any discipling needs to equip believers in where they can go and evangelise. In the case of Matthew, who was a tax collector, Jesus showed him that tax collectors, who were regarded on the same level as robbers, evildoers, and adulterers, should be witnessed to.
(Reference Luke 18:9-14)

Our work is not finished with salvation. From there we need to ensure they are discipled and commissioned to work in the harvest field to bring in the final harvest.
